Let me perform an exclusive show for you and your loved ones for a very special reason—or none at all. I’ll be there with a library of songs perfect for whatever the occasion and setting. Your wedding? Cool, I’m into that. Backyard BBQ? I can hang. Toddler’s birthday party? Sure, as long as there’s no clown. I’ll dedicate a song to you and yours, let you perch yourself on the piano and maybe we’ll even do a Chopsticks duet! (I’ll take the hard part). See you for your big moment, whatever you decide that is.
The Show Me Campaign, launched in 2007 by Grammy-award winning artist John Legend, works to break the cycle of poverty by supporting programs that help to provide every child with a quality education, spreading awareness about the issues, and inspiring citizens to take action. Through programs such as Teach for America, Teach for All, Harlem Village Academies, and New Profit, the Show Me Campaign works to elevate and celebrate teachers, the single most important factor for student achievement in our schools. The campaign also works to end the school-to-prison pipeline and to address systemic issues in our criminal justice system that disproportionately impact the poor, minorities and disadvantaged. Together, these dual strategies aim to give every single child the opportunity to not just survive, but to thrive.
