The Mark Wahlberg Youth Foundation and Cancer for College
About the cause
Built off Mark’s belief that “it’s our turn to help,” the Mark Wahlberg Youth Foundation funds the same types of programs that helped Mark Wahlberg overcome challenges during his youth. According to a 2009 EPE Research Center Study, 3 out of every 10 students in U.S. public schools fail to finish high school with a diploma. The Mark Wahlberg Youth Foundation aspires to reach those children whose dreams and passions are limited due to financial circumstances and provide them with opportunities that allow them to see the value in their education and planning for their future.
Selected by Will Ferrell, Cancer for College provides hope and inspiration to cancer survivors by granting college scholarships. The organization works to help those individuals who have been adversely affected by cancer and help them realize their dream of a college education. Over the last 22 years Cancer for College has awarded over $2 million in college scholarships to more than 1000 cancer survivors.
